At long last, PLDT star Savannah Davison finally claimed her first Most Valuable Player trophy after finishing inside the Top 10 of almost every statistical category in the 2025 PVL Invitational, Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Davison’s MVP coronation was more than just an individual honor — it marked the crowning moment of her rise, a personal milestone that underscored her growth into one of the league’s most dominant stars while steering the High Speed Hitters to back-to-back finals appearances.
The 26-year-old Fil-Canadian spiker ranked third in overall scoring despite missing a game in the eliminations, tallying a total of 94 points off 81 attacks, nine blocks, and four service aces across four outings.
Davison further proved her all-around game, ranking second in spiking with a 38.57 percent success rate, third in service at 0.22 aces per set, sixth in blocking with 0.50 per set, and seventh in receiving with a 30.00 percent efficiency.
Meanwhile, Best Outside Hitter honors went to Creamline’s Jema Galanza, who bagged her sixth Best Outside Hitter award to become the second-winningest player in the position, shining once again as a steady force on both offense and defense, and Kobe Shinwa University’s Nagisa Komatsuda, a lethal scorer on the wing.
Galanza finished second in scoring with 99 points while also placing seventh in spiking at 30.85 percent, ninth in service at 0.18 aces per set, fifth in digs with 2.36 per set, and third in receiving at 45.00 percent efficiency.
On the other hand, Komatsuda topped the scoring charts with 104 points and led the league in spiking with a 39.26 percent success rate.
Ara Galang of Chery Tiggo, meanwhile, finally broke through with her first-ever individual award in the pros, securing the Best Opposite Spiker plum.
The veteran spiker ranked eighth in scoring with 69 points, ninth in spiking at 25.93 percent, fourth in blocking with 0.55 per set, and seventh in digging with 2.00 per set — numbers that underscored her value on both ends for the Crossovers.
In the middle, Creamline’s Jeanette Panaga remained unmatched as she ran away with her eighth Best Middle Blocker award to stay as the winningest player in the position, while rookie Riza Nogales of ZUS Coffee made an immediate impact in just her second PVL campaign to secure the other Best Middle Blocker plum.
Panaga underscored her dominance by leading the league in blocking with 0.91 per set, tallying a tournament-best 20 blocks while also finishing as the 12th best scorer with 51 points.
Nogales, on the other hand, held her own as she ranked second in blocking with 0.59 per set for a total of 10 blocks in the Invitational.
Rounding out the individual honors were PLDT’s Kath Arado, who bagged her fifth Best Libero award to stand as the most decorated player in the position, and Kobe Shinwa University’s Sakura Furuta, who was named Best Setter after anchoring her team’s offense.
Arado proved once again why she is the league’s top floor defender, leading all players in digging with 5.00 per set while placing second in receiving at 55.56 percent efficiency.
Furuta, meanwhile, orchestrated Kobe Shinwa’s attack with precision, topping the league in setting at 5.84 excellent sets per set while also ranking fourth in serving with 0.21 aces per set.
