Creamline skipper Alyssa Valdez shared that she had to go through a couple of tests to be able to suit up in the Cool Smashers’ PVL 2022 Invitational Conference finals duel against KingWhale last Sunday.
Valdez sustained a left ankle injury on Friday when she accidentally landed on Bea Carvalho’s feet after a block attempt during the team’s five-set loss against the same team.
“Kanina lang, when we arrived sa arena it was my hop test kumbaga kung makakatalon ako for today’s video. After the game yesterday until today, I've been doing just therapy talaga, icing, and all the exercises,” revealed Valdez after Creamline’s dominant victory over KingWhale for its fifth title in the PVL.
“Pero yung last talaga, before payagan nila ako kailangan kong maka-jump and maka-laterals so I was able to do it naman,” she added.
The three-time PVL MVP played with no signs of an injured ankle as she spearheaded the Cool Smashers’ lopsided 25-21, 25-10, 25-8 win over the Taiwanese club. Valdez scattered nine points, 13 excellent digs, and eight excellent receptions.
Valdez said that this championship was definitely extra special because the team finished it intact and without major injuries.
“Sobrang extra special siya, you know why? Kasi halos lahat sa team healthy naming natapos yung conference,” said Valdez.
“More than ever, I think yun lang yung goal and wish namin and pinipray namin all the time na buo at kumpleto yung mga katawan namin kapag natapos kami sa conference and nangyari yun.”
