Ivy Lacsina finds stability amidst transition to Akari

Ivy Lacsina has swiftly adapted to her third team in as many conferences, now anchoring with Akari for the rest of the 2024 PVL season.

Following the disbandment of Cargo Movers, where she had previously played, Lacsina seamlessly integrated into Nxled before making the move to Akari alongside familiar faces like Faith Nisperos.

Despite a modest 4-7 record with the Chameleons in the All-Filipino Conference, Lacsina's journey took a turn for the better with Akari, where former Nxled coach Taka Minowa now guides the team.

Reflecting on her smooth transition, Lacsina noted, “Parang minimal lang naman 'yung mga in-adjust ko pagdating sa teammates kasi 'yung coach and 'yung iba naming coaches, nakasama ko na sa Nxled. So hindi naman ako masyadong nahirapan.”

The reunion with Faith Nisperos, a long-time teammate since their days at Nazareth School of National University, adds a layer of excitement for Lacsina.

“Siyempre excited ako kasi parang ilang years bago ko ulit makasama si Faith [Nisperos], and nung high school talaga kami naging close kami ni Alyssa Solomon tsaka ni Faith kaya ngayon siyempre excited ako,” she remarked during the PVL Draft, highlighting their strong bond forged during multiple UAAP girls' volleyball championships.

Standing tall at 6-foot-1, Lacsina is now focused on preparing for the upcoming Reinforced Conference, despite grappling with a persistent knee injury.

“Siguro hindi na siya maiiwasan kasi siyempre nagka-trauma na 'yung tuhod ko, ganon. Pero siyempre, nandoon pa din, kailangan pa rin maging stay fit and healthy kaya mas focused talaga ako sa health ko,” she admitted, emphasizing her dedication to maintaining peak physical condition.

As Akari gears up for their first match against Capital1 on July 18 at the Philsports Arena, Lacsina remains optimistic about the conference ahead.
