Diego on Lacsina: 'She's growing up into a lady'

In the world of volleyball, the pressure of a game can either make or break a player's performance. The game can be tense, with every point counting, but for Ivy Lacsina, it was an opportunity to show her composure and maturity.

On Saturday night, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers took on the unbeaten Creamline in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference. It was a game that was filled with twists and turns, with both teams displaying their skills on the court. But it was Lacsina who stole the show with her remarkable performance.

At just 23 years old, Lacsina was put to the test, with the game tied at 14-all in the fifth frame. She had already committed a crucial attack error several plays before, putting herself in a pressure-packed situation. But Lacsina did not falter. She rotated back to the service line, determined to make a difference.

Her first attempt proved to be a success, as she landed a heavy serve that resulted in a Kianna Dy rejection on Tots Carlos, putting the Cargo Movers at a match-point advantage after recovering from a 12-14 deficit. With the game on the line, Lacsina completed the job and converted a booming ace that completed the Cargo Movers' dramatic come-from-behind, 23-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 16-14 triumph against Creamline.

It was a remarkable performance that did not go unnoticed. F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego lauded Lacsina's composure and maturity.

"She's maturing. Ever since, she wasn't really the type of player who could really score an ace, but now she's maturing, she's growing up into a lady who can carry herself and can also lead the team," said Diego, who had previously handled Lacsina at Nazareth School of National University.

Lacsina's team captain, Aby Marano, also praised her for stepping up to the challenge and finishing the game from the service line

"All that was in our minds, Ara [Galang] and I, was telling Ivy that in the most important moment, she should make an ace, and she delivered," said Marano, who finished with 14 points in the win.

Lacsina ended up with seven points, including two aces, in the victory that helped F2 Logistics bounce back from its loss against Chery Tiggo. The Cargo Movers climbed up in the standings and tied the Cool Smashers at the second spot with identical 3-1 win-loss standings.

It was a game that showcased Lacsina's growth as a player and her ability to handle pressure. Her remarkable performance was not only crucial to her team's victory, but it also showed that she is a player to watch out for in the future. With her composure and maturity, Lacsina has proven that she is ready to take on any challenge that comes her way.
