Dawn Catindig sees first conference in Cignal as a learning experience

In the heart of competition, where every point counts and every serve demands precision, Dawn Macandili-Catindig emerges as a beacon of resilience for the Cignal HD Spikers. Despite the team's journey ending before the semifinals in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Macandili-Catindig remains undeterred, seeing each setback as a stepping stone towards greatness.

The HD Spikers' campaign may have fallen short of their aspirations, but they concluded their season with an emphatic victory, sweeping Capital1 in straight sets at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City. For Macandili-Catindig, the match was more than just a win; it was a testament to the team's unyielding spirit and determination.

"Though we fell short, there's still joy in the journey. It's all about learning and growing together as a team. We need to fine-tune our chemistry and elevate our game collectively," expressed Macandili-Catindig.

In a tightly contested league featuring formidable opponents like Choco Mucho, Creamline, Petro Gazz, Chery Tiggo, and PLDT, Cignal found themselves in the midst of an intense battle for a semifinal spot. Despite valiant efforts, losses to the Crossovers and the Angels dashed their hopes of advancing.

Nevertheless, the HD Spikers refused to go down without a fight. They showcased their tenacity by clinching crucial victories, including a spectacular triumph over the High Speed Hitters, before culminating their season with a resounding win against the Solar Spikers.

As the former PVL Best Libero, Macandili-Catindig acknowledges the ongoing process of familiarizing herself with her teammates' dynamics. However, she remains steadfast in her belief that they will overcome challenges and thrive in the upcoming conference.

"Being new to the team, I'm still acquainting myself with each teammate's strengths and weaknesses. That's what I appreciate about our team – amidst the highs and lows, we remain solid," affirmed Macandili-Catindig.

"Mentally, transitioning to this team required minimal adjustments in my routine and preparation for games. Coach Shaq's system aligns closely with my previous experiences, so I feel comfortable and seamlessly integrated," she added.
