Chery Tiggo seeks to seal last semis berth vs Galeries

Chery Tiggo enters into its match against Galeries Tower on Thursday with one goal in mind – securing a swift, decisive victory to clinch the last spot in the semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

With an 8-2 record, the Crossovers only need a point to dash any hopes PLDT may have of advancing to the next round.

Despite its dominance in the tournament thus far that saw the Crossovers win their last six matches, Chery Tiggo understands the importance of not underestimating its opponent.

Galeries Tower, though eliminated from contention with a 3-7 slate, is determined to make its final match meaningful and disrupt Chery Tiggo’s plans.

With the first three semis berths already secured by Choco Mucho (9-2), Petro Gazz and Creamline, which also tote 8-2 records, Chery Tiggo aims to join them with a victory against Galeries Tower in their 4 p.m. showdown. Even in the unlikely event of a five-set match, the Crossovers’ superior tally points would still net them a spot in the post-prelims stage of the season-opening tournament of the league organized by Sports Vision.

Coach Kungfu Reyes has transformed Chery Tiggo into a formidable force after a shock shutout loss to Farm Fresh, showcasing its dominance in recent matches. Despite the possibility of resting key players, like sisters Eya and EJ Laure, Mylene Paat, Ara Galang, Aby Maraño or Cza Carandang, the team still boasts a deep bench ready to step up when needed.

On the other side, Galeries Tower is eager to end its campaign on a high note. With players like Grace Bombita and Ysa Jimenez and playmakers Renee Mabilangan and Fhen Emnas, the Highrisers seek to challenge their streaking rivals and finish strong.

PLDT, on the other hand, faces a daunting task against Creamline in the 6 p.m. main game and must rely on other outcomes to have a chance at advancing. However, with injuries plaguing their campaign, the High Speed Hitters remain bent on salvaging whatever is left of their season.

Games are telecast live on free-to-air on One Sports, in HD on One Sports+, as well as on the PVL’s official website (pvl.ph) and the Pilipinas Live app. Global coverage includes the new free-to-air channel – RPTV.
