The Philippine National Volleyball Federation has announced the 16-woman pool for the indoor volleyball team that will compete in the 31st Southeast Asian Games this May.
Headlining the team is reigning Premier Volleyball League Most Valuable Player Jaja Santiago of Chery Tiggo.
Santiago is currently in the V.League playing for Saitama Ageo Medics.
Also part of the squad are Open Conference 1st Best Outside Spiker Alyssa Valdez of Creamline, 1st Best Middle Blocker Ria Meneses of Cignal, Best Opposite Spiker Kat Tolentino of Choco Mucho, and Best Libero Kath Arado of PLDT.
Other pros in the team are F2 Logistics' Iris Tolenada, Dawn Macandili, Majoy Baron, and Aby Marano; Chery Tiggo's Mylene Paat; Choco Mucho's Deanna Wong, Creamline's Jema Galanza; PLDT's Dell Palomata; and Cignal's Ces Molina.
Completing the squad are amateur standouts Casiey Dongallo and Jelaica Gajero of California Precision Academy.
The PNVF will send the team to Brazil three days after the Open Conference ends on April 9.
"We're going on the other side of the globe to have a two-week extensive training just before the SEA Games," said Suzara.
The Philippines went winless in the 2019 games.
